GO BIG OR GO HOME!

This competition focuses BIG beers. Think boozy. Think malt-heavy. If you've brewed such a beast and it fits one of the 16 BJCP style categories below, bring it on. You can also enter a special category — The Beast (35A) — if your beer clocks in at 12% alcohol or above, regardless of style.

Your entries will receive more attention and written feedback than other competitions, since judging flights will be small. And if your malt monster captures the Brewer's Choice Award, it'll be brewed commercially at Multiple Brewing and unleashed on the public.

ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open exclusively to homebrewers. No beers brewed on commerical brewery equipment can be accepted.

REGISTRATION: Online registration is required for all entries, and entrants will be able to add/change their entry info until 4 p.m. on Feb. 9.

SHIPPING: Shipped entries must arrive between Jan. 19 and Feb. 9. Judges and stewards will be allowed to carry in entries when they arrive for the contest on Feb. 17, but they will only be allowed to bring THEIR OWN ENTRIES -- no ferrying entries for others. All carry-in entries must have been registered online.

ENTRY LIMIT: No more that 12 entries per homebrewer, and the number of entries in the contest will be capped to the first 150 registered online. Online registration will be deactivated once 150 beers have been entered.

CATEGORIES AND SUBCATEGORIES: This competition focuses on "big" beers -- those with higher alcohol levels and malt profiles, specifically these 2015 BJCP Styles:

9A. Doppelbock
9B. Eisbock
9C. Baltic Porter
17A. English Strong Ale
17B. Old Ale
17C. Wee Heavy
17D. English Barleywine
20C. Imperial Stout
22B. American Strong Ale
22C. American Barleywine
22D. Wheatwine
24C. Biere de Garde
26B. Belgian Dubbel
26D. Belgian Dark Strong Ale
33A. Wood-Aged Beer
33B. Specialty Wood-Aged Beer
35A. The Beast (any style 12% ABV and above; must include ABV and base beer - if any)

Only ONE entry per subcategory is allowed. For example: You can enter a Belgian Dubbel in subcategory 26B and a Belgian Dark Strong Ale in 26D, but only one in each.

Entrants are responsible for ensuring that their beers are entered in the correct categories. If a beer is entered in the wrong category, no attempt will be made to move it to another category, and judges will be instructed to evaluate the entry's characteristics based on the category in which it was entered.

For information on the 2015 BJCP categories, go http://www.bjcp.org/docs/2015_Guidelines_Beer.pdf

Competition organizers may combine categories and subcategories  of similar styles to facilitate judging.

BOTTLES AND LABELS: Submit either 2 (TWO) 10- to 12-oz bottles OR at least 1 (ONE) 22-oz bomber. You are allowed to submit 2 (TWO) bombers if you want to ensure that an opened bottle goes to the Best of Show round (assuming your entry advances).

Bottle caps must be blacked out or blank, and no identifying marks should be on the bottle -- but raised lettering is OK. Bottles will not be returned.

Bottle labels, which the online registration tool generates for each entry, must be printed and attached to each bottle with a rubber band by the entrant. Do not use tape or glue labels, since these will be disqualified. No bottles, filled or unfilled, will be returned.

ENTRY FEES: The fee for each entry is $10, and fees can be paid in two ways:

(1.) Through the PayPal option during the online registration process. Be sure to return to the competition registration site after exiting the PayPal window, to ensure your payment registers. Print and include a copy of your PayPal receipt with your entries. Any PayPal registration fees that have been paid for entries that fail to arrive by the deadline -- or fail to arrive at all -- cannot be refunded.

(2.) By check, included with your entries, which must be received at one of the dropoff locations below on or before Feb. 9 at 4 p.m. Checks should be made out to "Drew Daniels (Treasurer, Athens Craft Brew Club)."

Judges and stewards may walk in their PayPal receipt or check along with their entries on Feb. 17, as long as those entries were registered online by the Feb. 9 entry deadline.
