ELIGIBILITY: The competition is open exclusively to homebrewers. No beers brewed on commerical brewery equipment can be accepted.

REGISTRATION: Online registration is required for all entrees, and entrants will be able to add/change their lineup of entries until 4 p.m. on June 30.

SHIPPING: Shipped entries must arrive between June 23 and July 7. Judges and stewards will be allowed to carry in entries when they arrive for the contest on July 15, but they will only be allowed to bring THEIR OWN ENTRIES -- no ferrying entries for others. All carry-in entries must have been registered online by June 30 at 4 p.m.

ENTRY LIMIT: There is no limit on an individual homebrewer's number of entries, but the number of entries in the contest will be limited to the first 400 registered online. Online registration will be deactivated once 400 beers have been entered.

CATEGORIES AND SUBCATEGORIES: The competition will be open to all beers from categories 1-34 in the 2015 BJCP guidelines (Sorry, no meads or ciders). Only ONE entry per subcategory is allowed. For example: You can enter a Scottish Light Ale in subcategory 14A and a Scottish Heavy in 14B, but only one in each. If you mistakenly enter more than one beer in a subcategory, all but one will be disqualified and the entry fee for the disqualified entry will not be refunded.

Entrants are responsible for ensuring that their beers are entered in the correct categories. If a beer is entered in the wrong category, no attempt will be made to move it to another category, and judges will be instructed to evaluate the entry's characteristics based on the category's style in which it was mistakenly entered.

For information on the 2015 BJCP categories, go to:

The competition organizers reserve the right to combine categories and subcategories for judging and to restructure awards as needed depending upon the quantity and quality of entries.

BOTTLES AND LABELS: Brewers must submit 2 (TWO) 10 - 12 ounce bottles made of brown glass for each beer entry. NO bombers, PET bottles or Grolsch-style swingtops will be allowed. Caps must be blacked out or blank, and no identifying marks should be on the bottle -- but raised lettering is OK. Bottles will not be returned.

Bottle labels, which the online registration tool creates for entrants when they enter their beers, must be printed and attached to each bottle with a rubber band by the entrant. Do not use tape or glue, since these will be disqualified. No bottles, filled or unfilled, will be returned. An entry form will also be created for each beer as it is registered, and the form must be printed and included with entries.

ENTRY FEES: The fee for each entry is $8. Entry fees can be paid in two ways:

  1. Through the PayPal option during the online registration process. Be sure to return to the competition registration site after exiting the PayPal window, to ensure your payment registers. Also be sure to print and include a copy of your PayPal receipt, whether your entries are dropped off or shipped. PayPal registration fees that have been paid for entries that fail to arrive by the deadline -- or fail to arrive at all -- will not be refunded.
  2. By check, included with your entries, which must be received at one of the addresses below on or before July 7 at 4 p.m. Checks should be made out to Ohio Brew Week. No cash payments will be accepted.

Judges and stewards may walk in their PayPal receipt or check along with their entries on July 15, as long as those entries were registered online.
